Ingredients
- 150g unsalted butter (5.3 oz)
- 200g dark chocolate, coarsely chopped (7 oz)
- 250g granulated sugar (1 1/4 cups)
- 3 large eggs
- 5ml vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
- 95g all-purpose flour (3/4 cup)
- 30g unsweetened cocoa powder (1/4 cup)
- 1g salt (1/4 teaspoon)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to lift the brownies out easily after baking.
- In a medium microwave-safe bowl or over a double boiler, melt together the butter and chopped chocolate, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth and combined. Allow this mixture to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and slightly pale.
- Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and whisk gently until combined.
- Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold these dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a spatula or wooden spoon, being careful not to over-mix.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the brownies are set on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. After cooling, use the parchment paper to lift the brownies out of the pan. Cut into squares and enjoy.
