Ingredients

  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup (67g) packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (180g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (120g) chopped pecans
  • 1 cup (240ml) caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a 9×9 inch (23×23 cm) baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some to hang over the edges for easy removal later.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, butter, brown sugar, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
  4. Press this mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust. Ensure it is even and firmly packed.
  5. Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove and let it cool for 10 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle the chocolate chips and chopped pecans evenly over the cooled crust.
  7. Pour the caramel sauce evenly over the chocolate chips and pecans, spreading it with a spatula if necessary to ensure even coverage.
  8. Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbling and the edges are lightly browned.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  10. Once cooled, use the overhanging parchment paper to lift the bars out of the pan.
  11. Cut into 16 squares. Serve and enjoy your Turtle Bars!
